History

Isadore Isackson (dec. 1988), born in Latvia on February 22, 1901, came to Alpena, Michigan as a child. He pursued, and later received, his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. In 1925, Isadore obtained his law degree from the University of Detroit. That same year he returned to Alpena and began a long career practicing law and serving the community of Northeast Michigan. Isadore practiced law until his death in 1988, a resounding 63 years. Isadore succeeded former Attorney General Frank Kelley as the Alpena City Attorney
In the 1960’s, the Alpena County Register of Deeds, Robert Wallace, advised his friend, Isadore, that his nephew would be an ideal candidate for employment in his law office. Isadore then persuaded Keith Wallace to leave his job at Lawyer’s Title Insurance in Southeastern Michigan. Keith graduated from University of Detroit in 1968 and upon his admittance to the State Bar, he returned to Alpena, MI to begin his legal career that same year, and has been practicing law in Alpena ever since. Isadore served the City of Alpena in the same capacity until 1981. Isadore was a charter member and chairman of the Board of Directors of First Federal Savings and Loan Association, founder of the Alpena Civic Orchestra, and was a member and past vice president of the Alpena Public Schools Board of Education.
In 1988, the law firm of Isackson and Wallace, P.C. moved into it’s current location at 114 S. Second Ave., Alpena, Michigan. The firm has been located in Downtown Alpena for over 80 years.
